Exciting times at The Cake Workshop

The Cake Workshop is where our classes are held in Cumbria and it really is a workshop as we are busy creating fabulous cake designs and classes for all of our new students.

Since launching the classes in May we've run a number of our old tried and tested classes but we've also been working hard on writing even more classes to add to our calendar.  We're also busy arranging guest teachers to join us at the Workshop so that we have a class to offer everyone.

After a quiet summer we're very exciting to launch in to our September classes this week.  First off is our most popular class the Cupcake Basics Class.  This class is the first class that we ever ran back in 2009.  It has remained popular and we haven't ever changed to format because our students have always created stunning results.

The beginners buttercream class will also be making 2 more appearances in September which we're really looking forward to after the success of the first class.

Most exciting though is the 4 days we have booked with Dawn from Dinkydoodle Designs.  Dawn is travelling up from Nottingham to spend 4 days with us to share her amazing skills and knowledge.  Dawn is a leading expert in airbrushing, cake carving and sugarveil and she has agreed to run a class on all 3!!

So far we have students travelling from Sheffield and Glasgow for her courses and we're sure that it will be worth the trip.

If you are thinking of travelling for any of our classes we're always happy to help you out with finding accommodation.  Cumbria is a beautiful county and our little piece of it is no exception.

To book any of our classes you can go online, visit us on our Facebook page or email us via the website.

Hello Cumbria

Well, we finally launched in Cumbria in May 2012..we have stunning new premises at Warwick Mill near Carlisle and we are starting to feel at home in the new office.
Our classes started in May and, as before in Milton Keynes, we are delighted that we are meeting some fabulous students who not only have loads of talent but are lovely people to spend time with.  We were so lucky in MK and weren't sure it would happen again so thank you Cumbria for the warm welcome.

With the launch of the new website and the new name for our class venue - The Cake Workshop we have also launched some new classes.  It's been an exciting time and we have so much more planned.

The first of our new classes was launched today with 5 lovely ladies attending our beginners piping class.  We wanted to introduce people to the wonders of piping and show them what is achievable in a relatively short space of time.

These ladies all had very limited experience of piping (some none at all) and their results were simply stunning.  In 4 hours they covered their cakes, piped starts, dots, roses and a beautiful petal design around the edge of their cakes.  Take a look at the piccies and see what you think.

Well it's all change at MWB

We've been a bit quiet for a while and for that we can only apologise....in December 2011 the business was relocated from Milton Keynes to the beautiful countryside of Cumbria (we'll be opening a new venue for our classes at Warwick Bridge near Carlisle in April 2012).
We were very sad to leave Milton Keynes behind us because over the years we've had so many fabulous students on our classes, many of whom we classed as new friends.  We are hoping though to keep some classes going in the area but this will take a bit of time to organise from a distance.

Mums Who Bake is really not just a brand name - Vicki really is a Mum Who Bakes and so sometimes things may take a little longer due to the demands of a busy family (3 children and 1 on the way...next week!!).  We are very excited though about relaunching the business and can't wait to have the new online shop, class timetable and, hopefully, retail outlet up and running this spring.

We're also looking forward to meeting our new customers in the North West.  We're going to be located less than an hour from Carlisle & Newcastle and only an hour and a half from Edinburgh and Glasgow.  Our class prices will remain competitive and we hope to be adding even more classes including a full day class that incorporates baking the cupcakes aswell as decorating them.

In the meantime we've been busy researching new ideas and products and look forward to making more announcements over the next few weeks.
